HQ 70th Regiment (LDR)

Officer Candidate School OCS

 

Officer Candidate School Enlistment Option

 

If you are a college Graduate or have completed at least 60 credit hours, you may be eligible to enlist specifically for the OCS enlistment option.

 

State OCS is usually completed in three phases; an initial two-week phase, a year of drill weekends in between and a final two-week phase. (Basic Training is a prerequisite).

 

Current Guard members can enroll into the OCS program with a recommendation, from their unit commander, as long as they meet criteria below.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen

  • Meet Army National Guard enlistment eligibility

  • Meet qualifications of local/State OCS program

  • Have at least 60 semester hours from an accredited college/university prior to OCS

  • Complete 90 semester hours from and accredited college/university prior to the date of commission

  • Be at least 18 but not more than 30 years of age (May be waived up to 34 years of age)

  • Enlist for a minimum of 6 years

  • ASVAB GT score of 110 or above

  • Complete Basic Training prior to attending OCS

 

Reserve Officer Training Corps ROTC

A long Tradition of Excellence!

 

Founded in 1916, Army ROTC has produced more than one-half million lieutenants. It is a great avenue for those seeking to serve as Army officers.

 

ROTC also has a college elective you can try out for up to two years with no obligation. You will combine classroom time with hands-on experience learning skills that are sure to give you an edge in life.

 

As part of ROTC, you will be in the company of a diverse group of individuals with broad interests.

Your studies will include: Leadership Development, Military Skills, Adventure Training and much more!

 

Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)

As a contracted junior and senior, you can serve in both ROTC and the Maryland Army National Guard un at the rank of Cadet (pay grade E-5). You will receive the best of both programs in pay, benefits and military training.

 

MDARNG 2 Year ROTC Scholarships

These are full two-year scholarships which cover tuition costs. Recipients incur a eight year Army National Guard service obligation upon graduation.

 
 

 

Warrant Officer Program

Warrant Officers are highly specialized experts and trainers who operate, maintain, administer, and manage equipment, support activities, or technical systems.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  •     Be a U.S. Citizen

  •     CH22 Physical Examination

  •     High School or GED graduate

  •     6 college credits in English

  •     E-5 or above with BNCOC, GT Score of 110

  •     Experience in the career field (3 to 6 years)

  •     Pass the Army Physical Fitness Test and HT/WT

  •     Secret security clearance (Interim to apply)

 

Aviator Warrants must pass the class 1A physical, AFAST score of 90 or better, and have 20/50 or better distance visual acuity correctable to 20/20

 

Warrant Officer Candidates attend WOCS, consisting of four challenging weeks training.

 


 

Chaplain

For over 200 years, military chaplains have accompanied U.S. Forces. They provide religious worship services, rites, sacraments, ordinances, and ministrations. Opportunities also exist for graduate theology and divinity students.

The mission of the chaplain is to "nurture the living, care for the sick and wounded, minister to prisoners, and honor the dead."

 

JAG

Established in 1775 by George Washington, the JAG Corps is the oldest law firm in the nation. The JAG Corps is a wide ranging practice that includes military law and criminal prosecution to legal assistance. JAG officers are direct appointment as a First Lieutenant and typically assigned to a higher headquarters from the start.

 

 

Healthcare

Your Mission: To conserve the fighting strength!

 

Based on your education, experience, qualifications and background, you will receive a Direct Commission as an officer with the rank of Lieutenant or Captain. As a healthcare professional, your civilian training and credentials are recognized. You may be required to attend a brief two week Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Basic Course in San Antonio, TX. As a healthcare officer, you can take advantage of a generous benefits package and a competitive salary. You will also benefit from continuous on-the-job training. You will manage highly qualified teams much sooner than you would in the civilian world and you will be able to enjoy autonomy within your practice while being rewarded for your experience in your field. Physicians, Physician's Assistants, Optometrist, Dentists, Nurses, medical students and other medical professionals are encouraged to inquire.

 

 

YOU may qualify for loan repayment and health care bonus programs. Ask your AMEDD Recruiter about available incentives. Note - these change annually.

 

 

 

Prior Service Military Officers

 

Prior service Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine & Coast Guard officers frequently resume military service in the Army National Guard. As a matter of fact 50% of our soldiers have prior military service. Your prior service is calculated for pay, rank, and retirement.

 

The process begins by determining your eligibilty, then completing NGB From 62-E (application for appointment). A packet is assembled, along with many documents including: transcripts, a medical exam, DD214, and prior service records. The packet is then reviewed through a board process.

 

Active Army & USAR Transfer

 

Officers nearing the completion of their active duty service obligation may coordinate transfer into the Army National Guard units in 54 states and territories! Reserve Component Career Counselors (RCCCs) are located at all major active army installations. Make sure you are in touch with you RCCC prior to ETS!

 

Early Release Program: Officers nearing two years of active duty may apply for the ARNG Combat Reform Initiative to full their obligation in the Guard.

 

Army Reserve Officers: Each state has an Officer Strength Manager to assist in your transfer process. A DD Form 368 must be completed requesting release.
